Coffee Drinks Explained: Black Coffee vs Milk Coffee
Coffee names can feel confusing at first. Americano, Latte, Cappuccino, Flat White, Mocha — they all sound different, but the basic idea is actually quite simple. Before you try to remember every coffee name, it is easier to understand coffee in two big groups:
Black coffee and milk coffee.
Once you understand this, choosing coffee becomes much easier.
Simple Difference Between Black Coffee and Milk Coffee
The easiest way to understand it:
Black coffee = coffee + water
Milk coffee = coffee + milk
That’s the basic idea. If the drink looks clear, dark, and has no milk, it is usually black coffee. If it looks creamy, lighter in colour, or mixed with milk, it is usually milk coffee.
When Ordering Coffee
Of course, people do not usually order coffee by saying “black coffee” or “milk coffee.” These are just simple groups to help you understand the menu. When you order, you will usually see names like Americano, Latte, Cappuccino, Mocha, or Flat White.
